Peak Performances

For the week of April 6-12, the following NVL athletes were among the star performers in league action:

* Nick Kuzia (Seymour boys’ baseball) allowed just three hits over nine innings on the mound and tripled and scored the game’s lone run in the Wildcats’ 1-0, extra-inning victory at Torrington.

* Samantha White (Woodland girls’ softball) registered eight hits (including two triples and a home run) and six RBI over three games as the Hawks defeated Sacred Heart, Crosby and New Canaan during the week.

* Alex Gauthier (Wolcott boys’ tennis) lost just four games while sweeping three matches at the number-one singles spot in Eagles’ victories over Holy Cross, Wilby and Torrington.

* Olivia Ravin (Holy Cross girls’ lacrosse) notched four goals as the Crusaders rallied to defeat Watertown 9-8 in the school’s first-ever varsity game in the sport.

* Troy Micale (St. Paul boys’ baseball) went 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI as the Falcons outlasted Torrington 28-14, and then tripled and knocked in two more runs in a non-league win over Terryville.
